It is a group that are making concrete drone sounds with their free-improv expression and the ideas from "laptop" "noise" and "Art". Using laptop, tape-operation, and tape-loop, generated guitar, the project ideal is to express the content of various psycho pathological conditions, especially depressive psychosis, and paranoia. And also making an art design, a photomontage with strong attention to Dada and Bauhaus. ENG was initially composed of shotahirama on tape-operation, Toshitaka Ikeda on guitar and shunjiTAKAMI on laptop. Musicians were free to join in, but such collaborations were often short-lived if the contributions were lacking the proper spirit or whatever. No ENG performance is ever planned; each is unique and spontaneous. The musicians vowed never to rehearse and never to discuss what they had played. Hakobune: founder: Hakobune origin: Kyoto myspace: Hakobune official myspace Edition NIkO Release: Coming Soon type: Drone bio: Hakobune aka Takahiro Yorifuji (b.1986.4), inspired by minimalism, drone and concentrated on sound landscape, Yorifuji is best known as the father of ambient music in "Kyoto new-age". Using guitar and makes deep appreciation of harmonic structure, layering sounds in textures that seem to leave the listener suspended in time. He has been released out a number of titles, and working with David Tagg in 2008 was one of his best work in his discography. Yorifuji is from a small town in Hyogo, Japan and currently resides in Kyoto. 概要: 京都市在住の音楽家。ギターを軸としたタピストリーを用いソニックランドスケープを構築する。国内外のレーベルから音源をリリース。08年7月に2ndアルバム"We Left The Window Open Sometimes"をリリースし、後にイギリスのレコードショップSmallfish Recordsが発表した2008年度ベストアルバム20に選ばれる。

It was a stage name for shota using art and music as complementary tools to create rhythmic, minimal electronic music. Sometimes harsh, sometimes remarkably gentle but danceable, his music has a strong focus on complex and chaotic rhythm, driving percussion, and meticulous sequencing. Many of his tracks contain chaotic rhythms and close harmonies which some hear as random and noisy. True to his early techno roots, JANDEATH use a wide array of analog synths in their production, as well as analog and digital drum machines, mixers, effects units and samplers. JANDEATH have experimented in depth with development environments such as Reaktor, and Processing. He also used the Elektron Machinedrum and Monomachine in his live performances. His work has been published under a variety of formats including book, CD, DVD, live performance and installation across Europe, Asia and the United States. He has won several prizes and distinctions ; 1st prize for orchestral composition at the Besançon Festival, 1st prize at the "Opéra autrement/Acanthes" competition, Villa Médicis Hors les Murs (New York), grant Leonardo da Vinci (San Francisco) , Villa Kujoyama (Kyoto), DAAD (Berlin). He got numerous commissions from the French Governement, the radio and from electronic studios such as Ircam, GRM , GMEM, CRFMW, EMS... He also works with experimental or unclassifiable musicians such as Zbigniew Karkowski, Tetsuo Furudate, Dror Feiler, Art Zoyd, Eliane Radigue, Phill Niblock., John Duncan, othersŠŠ... He is also known for founding T.O.A.O (The One And Only Photo Group), Ken Hirama Films and Happydogs Production. He is currently working under Niko Label as kenhirama. Ken has established “The One And Only Photo Group” in 2008. This is a group of amateur photographer around the world to share their views of the world using photographs. In this group he has worked with Mikeru Nirvana (Founder of Elva Create) and currently working with Tsutomu Ogawa (Japan). In 2009, He started the “Happydogs Production/ Ken Hirama Films”. Happydogs Production was to show the possibilities of film making using a DSLR camera. His first video “D90 Short Film” received recognition from NikonD90plus.com as “The best video done with Nikon D90”. Unlike “Happydogs Production”, Ken Hirama films concentrates mainly on story based short films such as his modern silent “Smoke Break” (NHK Film Contest nominee.) Ken Hirama film is currently working with Toshihiko Tanemura (Comedian/ Writer) and also working to adopt short stories from the novelist Taro Shimazu. In 2010, Ken Hirama is going a different direction in creating visual arts. MICLO DIET is an electronic music act based in Tokyo. MICLO's minimal, electronoise-influenced techno music helped establish the sound of the SOUP community, also located in Tokyo. Heralding the use of the laptop as a DIY production tool and live performance instrument, the musicians gathered around SOUP were seminal in defining a new genre of electronic music, defying conventions of both dancefloor oriented techno and the academic field of digital noise music. He is a visual artist, sound artist and graphic designer. In 2005, Wiese graduated in Communication Design at the Design Faculty of HAW Hamburg. Apart from that, he studied Experimental Sound Design at the University of Arts in Berlin, and Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Hamburg. Wiese was actively involved in numerous exhibition- and concert projects of the young avantgarde scene in Hamburg, between 2002 and 2006 – as an organizer, curator and participating artist. In this period, some ongoing international and interdisciplinary collaborations were started. Since 2006, he lives and works in Berlin-Neukölln. Beginning with toy microphones and instruments, Shoeb obsessed over feedback manipulation and minimal organ drone before feeling the push of punk experimentation. He performs and records fragile tone structures and spacious songforms using guitar, voice, field recordings, keyboard and laptop. He has released recordings on the Sound & Fury, Wilting Flower and Low Point labels while performing alongside the likes of Gersey, DJ Olive, Richard Chartier, Tenniscoats, Christopher Willits and Magic Dirt. Shoeb has just released his first full length CD, titled 'Sonar Love Songs' on French label Cook An Egg. SIN:NED: founder: SIN:NED in Groups: No One Pulse origin: Hongkong myspace: SIN:NED official myspace Edition NIkO Release: NI001 "Chainsia" 2007 type: Experimental bio: An idiosyncratic writer, sound artist and experimental musician from Hong Kong, who hacks and twists anything he can put his hands on. Used to be one of the contributing writers for the legendary Hong Kong alternative music magazine, MCB. While not writing as a pseudo-music critic elaborating his esoteric worldview, in the same idiosyncratic fashion, he spends much of his time hacking and sculpting sonic materials with his laptop and various electronic gears. His interest ranges widely from improvisation, field recordsings, sound art, and experimental music to noise art, and had taken part and performed in various festivals and exhibitions such as HK Sound and Vision Festival (2003), Get It Louder (2007), Hong Kong & Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (2008). His first two solo works, “Uroborus: A Study On No-input Device” and “60 Seconds: A Schizophrenic Manual for Eternity”, were both released by Lona Records in 2006. He is also one half of the Electro-acoustic concept duo No One Pulse and member of the laptop trio iii.

Yuji Kondo: founder: Yuji Kondo origin: Osaka myspace: Yuji Kondo official myspace Edition NIkO Release: NI003 "NEUBAUTEN" 2008 Edition NIkO Release: NI002 "POSTISM" 2008 Edition NIkO Release: NI001 "CHAINSIA" 2007 type: Electronica bio: yuji kondo (b. 1986) is a sound artist and composer from japan. in late 2005, he started his solo project, and currently based in osaka, kyoto,,, the kansai region. he makes compositions using computer programs, and restructure the sounds such as snow noise, sine wave, stylus tip noise, tape hiss, impulse click, field recording sources, acoustic percussion instruments, random tuning electric bass guitar tones, and voices in unconventional ways. generated materials are fed back by the matrix-switch system on daw software, and are used in music. the grand feedback landscape woven by frequency operation is as beautiful as the fog, subtle and profound. his sound is a unique blend of electronic sounds and acoustic instruments, and the minimal and the complexities coexist there. the electronics function just as any other instruments. he skillfully shifts the brokendown sound to listening music. 概要: ベーシストとして活動する傍ら、徐々に騒音学に傾倒。2005年に本名義を始動、現在に至る。主にフィールドレコーディングなどの素材を扱い、それらを和音化したものを複数のチャンネルで走らせ、壮大かつ幽玄な故障音響を生成、さらに時間化する。Jun Nishimura aka JadeGardenの楽曲リミックス、ENGのオーディオヴィジュアル作品等に参加、関西を中心にライヴを行うなど精力的にその独自のサウンドを展開中。Edition NIkOからリリースされているコンピレーションへの楽曲提供もしている。

Zen Lu: founder: Zen Lu origin: Shenzhen myspace: Zen Lu official myspace Edition NIkO Release: NI001 "Chainsia" 2007 type: Experimental bio: Zen Lu, experimental musician and sound artist, hosted and founded We Play!Records,and he is the founder of Neo Sound group,is now working and living in Shenzhen,China. In the past few years, while insisting on independent solo composing, Zen Lu founded and joined in several local musical outfits. In 2002, he founded a post-rock group “Consciousness”. In 2004, he joined YOUNG CRAZY, and it was there he developed a huge interest in the genres of experimental electronica and industrial noise. In April 2006, he formed ZenBOBO and by that time he has become totally engrossed in composing minimalist/ambient music. In September 2006, he collaborated with Polish experimental musician Grzegorz Bojanek and formed ChoP, from which an album is to come out. In the future series of release of ChoP, two musicians of different nationalities will be invited to join in composing for each release. In May 2007,he founded Skybox duo with Dickson Dee. Zen Lu has performed in New Vision Arts Festival(Hong Kong),SAND Festival(Hong Kong), Asia Europe Music Camp and Clandestino Festival(Gothenburg,Sweden), Moving Closer International New Media Festival(Warsaw,Poland),Chinese Sound Art in Poland project(5 cities in Poland),Get It Louder Exhibition(Guangzhou ,China),Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale of Architecture .. Urbanism,etc. Actively taking part both in solo and group composing, Zen Lu has gradually established his another musical personality with his distinctively abstract and visual style of electronic music. Zen Lu also organized experimental music/sound art performance in Shenzhen.
